About Anna

My Journey to Becoming a Therapist...

Something that brings me great joy is listening. When someone shares a story that encapsulates part of who they are I feel incredibly honored. I’ve always felt a heaviness build within myself when I couldn't express my inner experience, and I’ve seen the same heaviness build in loved ones. This bottling of stress wears on us psychologically and physically. Expressing inner turmoil offers both relief and room for connection.

I became a counselor to be a listener. I strive to create space for my clients to feel safe enough to share who they are and what they are experiencing.

My Education and Training:

  • Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling – Colorado Christian University, Lakewood, CO
  • Bachelor of Arts in Psychology – University of Sioux Falls, Sioux Falls, SD
  • Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate - LPCC.0022968 Colorado

What do I do when I'm not doing therapy...

I love the feeling of awe, so in my freetime, I go out and find it! I love to spend time marveling at the mountains, experiencing new foods, or soaking in the sun on a walk.

Seeking Whole Wellness

Have you ever felt fatigued, frustrated, or fearful only to look at the clock and see that it’s 3:32 pm and you haven’t spoken, drank water, eaten, moved, or gone outside? Or, have you experienced joyful energy coursing through your body after a long chat with a friend?

Our bodies are beautifully designed so that different aspects of our being are interrelated. A thought of panic can increase your heart rate. A smile from across the room can bring forth happiness.

As a counselor, I aim to support my clients as they pursue mental and emotional health. This includes taking inventory of their whole life and identifying areas that could benefit from a little attention. Feeling grounded and healthy is a feeling worth pursuing.

Christian Counseling

I offer Christian counseling to believers who are seeking a Biblical perspective towards their mental health. We often get caught up viewing ourselves how the world views us, and we need a little help returning to the truths about ourselves, the world, and others that we can find in Scripture. During Christian counseling, I use a Biblical lens to support your emotional and psychological healing for the Glory of God.

Outdoor Counseling

Are you feeling stuck in your normal routine? Are you the kind of person that prefers to move or be outdoors to clear your head? In addition to the traditional in-office setting, I offer outdoor counseling. During outdoor counseling, we take the therapy session to an open space, hiking trail, or walking path! These sessions can look like walking and talking, engaging in mindfulness activities, or learning how to harness the numerous mental health benefits provided by nature.

What Does the Actual Process Look Like?

Initially, we will have a consultation call to assess we are a suitable match for working together. I will inquire about the reasons for your reaching out at this time, your current challenges, and your objectives for therapy.

During the intake session, you will discuss your desired goals and outcomes for therapy, and I will outline approaches to help achieve them. I regard the therapeutic relationship as a sacred space.

I aim to create an environment where clients can freely express themselves in each session. Therapy must encompass seriousness while also allowing moments of laughter. Therapy is a journey filled with ups and downs, and every individual deserves guided support for a fulfilling experience. Each person has a unique story worth sharing and the potential to be rewritten. Sessions are client-focused, and I strive to be flexible and creative in tailoring the experience to your needs and desires. The goal is to collaborate strategically to help you grow and thrive in your life.

What is it like to work with me?

I will intentionally and respectfully hold space for you to discuss and work through stressors in your life. I will share my observations to provide you with an empathetic outside perspective. The goal is to grow in personal and interpersonal wellness. I am here to listen and support you along this journey.

I approach counseling using a variety of therapeutic modalities including:

  • Person-Centered Talk Therapy
  • Polyvagal Theory
  • Mindfulness and Art Incorporation
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Walk and Talk Nature Therapy

Taking the first step

If being seen, heard, and supported will help you in your pursuit of wellness, I encourage you to reach out. I would love to get connected with you!
