About Mary

Creating a Space for Healing and Growth

My journey to becoming a therapist began with my own life-changing experience in therapy, particularly after becoming a mom. I realized the profound impact that compassionate support can have on healing and growth, and this experience inspired me to help others in the same way I was helped. I believe that healing happens in connection, and I’m honored to walk alongside my clients as they uncover their inner strength, engage in personal growth, and rewrite their stories.

My Education and Training:

  • Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (expected August 2026) – Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC
  • Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication – University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, NC

What do I do when I am not doing therapy?

When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll find me spending time with my husband and daughter, taking walks with my dogs, reading books and listening to podcasts, watching scary movies, dancing, traveling, and connecting with friends. I also have a serious sweet tooth and love for coffee!

What is it like to work with me?

I take a person-centered, narrative, and emotion-focused approach to therapy, with a special passion for supporting individuals through pregnancy and postpartum transitions. I emphasize empowerment, healthy boundaries, and self-care, helping you learn how to love yourself while showing kindness to others. I also believe that the trust and safety we build in our sessions can serve as a model for healthy relationships in your life outside of therapy.

Courage to Grow

With a background in journalism, I’ve always been drawn to listening to people’s stories. Now, as a therapist, I provide a space where you can share yours—the good and the bad—while gaining deeper self-awareness and emotional resilience. I’ll help you develop practical coping skills, challenge self-limiting beliefs, and take action toward the life you envision. You are the expert on you, and I consider it a privilege to be part of your journey.

In our work together, you’ll find a warm, welcoming space where you can be yourself–without fear of judgment. Whether you’re facing life transitions, emotional struggles, or simply seeking personal growth, I am here to support you with empathy and evidence-based approaches. I believe you already carry the knowledge and resources within you to create the life you want, and my role is simply to help you find the path toward fulfillment and empowerment. Along the way, we may even share a laugh—because healing doesn’t have to be heavy all the time.

What does the actual process look like?

First, we’ll have a consultation call to assess whether we’re a suitable match for working together. I’ll ask about the reasons you’re reaching out at this time, your current challenges, and your objectives for therapy.

During the intake session, you’ll discuss your desired goals and outcomes for therapy, and I will outline approaches to help you achieve them. I regard the therapeutic relationship as a sacred space, and I aim to create an environment where clients can freely express themselves in each session.

Therapy must encompass seriousness while also allowing for moments of laughter. It’s a journey filled with ups and downs, and every individual deserves guided support for a fulfilling experience. Each person has a unique story worth sharing and the potential to be rewritten. Sessions are client-focused, and I strive to be flexible and creative in tailoring the experience to your needs and desires. The goal is to collaborate strategically to help you grow and thrive in your life.
