About Kati

My Journey to Becoming a Therapist…

I remember the moment when my passion for being a therapist truly rose to the next level. I had just processed my own internal beliefs that had built up from childhood/teen years and realized that there was SO much more space for believing in my own potential as a person, as a mom, and as a wife.

Now, I have the desire to extend that same healing and hope for others, including you!

My education and training:

  • Master of Social Work – University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI
  • Bachelor of Arts in Psychology – Siena Heights University, Adrian, MI
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker CSW.09924469 Colorado
  • Certified Clinical Trauma Professional
  • Perinatal Mental Health Certificate PMH-C
  • EMDR Trained
  • Inner Healing Modality Trained
  • Clinical Supervisor

When I am not doing therapy...

I am spending time as a Boy Mama with a whole lot of soccer. Our family loves soccer for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

I enjoy coffee shops with friends and exploring new trails for walking and hiking.

I am heavily involved at church in inner healing ministry, prayer, and leadership.

I truly know the feeling of being overwhelmed and feeling "stuck" - I really get it!

It takes courage.

Having the courage to take action when you decide to try counseling and then finding the search pages with lists of therapists can be SO overwhelming and make you want to give up.

I recognize these obstacles and want to share some information about what it’s like to work with me to help you in your search.

In the therapy space, you will be invited to share where you are at and what you are coming in with, in an honest and safe way.

I aim to support you through a gentle, yet decisive approach. I will challenge you to go deeper to gain your own awareness of what is going on inside of you.

You might hear me ask, “Is it ok if I challenge you here?” This is because I work from a trauma-informed approach, but I also believe in the power of going to the uncomfortable places.

I will support you in moving from the surface layers of “trimming the branches” of maintenance, and into exploring the deeper “roots” to see what you want to do with the tree.

We will determine the ROOT of WHY you are feeling what you are feeling. I believe that we form templates in life for what we believe about ourselves and how we engage with others. We will identify the ROOT, so that we can move forward with processing those memories and experiences that shape where you are now.

Let’s get you unstuck and feeling better, more in control, and like you have direction in your life!

What to expect...

When you reach out, we will set up a free consultation call to see if your therapeutic needs match my therapeutic specialties and approach. If it doesn’t match, I will help pair you with someone who does match your needs.

During the consultation call, my goal is to get any questions you have answered, collect some basic information about what you have been experiencing and for how long, and determine if I am the right fit.

During the intake, you will share your desired goals and outcomes for therapy, and I will share a road map for how we get you there.

The next few sessions we will explore the roots of your symptoms, what relationships have impacted you most, and your internal dialogue patterns aka "self-beliefs".

You will start to feel improvement in symptoms just by giving yourself a space to acknowledge and share what has been going on.

We will move forward and out of "stuck" by processing the root or underlying memories with trauma-informed approaches.

Once memories are desensitized and processed, we utilize a coaching-style approach to help you identify what changes you want to make in your life.

This could include setting and implementing new boundaries, repairing relationships, or deciding you want a career or education change. We will work together to set these goals!

Healing that Lasts.

You will be supported in identifying how you want to walk out the changes you have experienced with your healing, and I believe in equipping you to maintain the progress on your own outside of therapy.

In our work together we will use trauma-informed approaches like:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Narrative Therapy

Do not worry. I will explain the process to you and give you some hands-on experience with where we are going before we dive in.

With client-led interest, I also incorporate faith-based modalities that help move any barriers to your spiritual connection out of the way, so you feel connected again. We will focus on releasing painful experiences with the intent of leaving you feeling empowered, connected, and in control, and ultimately feeling assertive and confident in your decisions moving forward.

It is the right time to choose you. Let us explore what healing really feels like in your life. There is hope, and I would be honored to walk alongside you in this journey.
