About Lou Ann

Welcome!

That you have landed here, on this page, at this time, is no coincidence. It takes courage to decide to put yourself first and allow another person into your world. It can feel overwhelming to think about engaging in your healing. I encourage you to read on….

What brought me to the counseling field was my own adventure of healing through therapy. I found hope, healing, and passion for life. It is my strongest desire to help others navigate their way to a meaningful life of purpose and joy, where they can comfortably be their most authentic self.

My Education and Training:

  • Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling – Colorado Christian University, Colorado Springs, CO
  • Bachelor of Arts in Ministry (Counseling Emphasis) – Nazarene Bible College, Colorado Springs, CO
  • Licensed Professional Counselor - LPC.0020274 Colorado
  • EMDR Trained
  • ERP Trained
  • Inner Healing Modality Trained
  • Perinatal Mental Health Trained

When I am not in therapy mode...

I spend time with my hands in the dirt while gardening, DIY-ing projects around the house, quilting with friends, crafting meaningful projects, and reading/watching true crime.

I also have an adorable Schnauzer named Charlie, who I have more pictures of than should be legal!

As well, I enjoy catching up with friends at local coffee shops, trying new foods, and catching a good movie. And of course, as a Colorado resident, I love hiking around our beautiful state!

Is now the right time for therapy?

In true “therapist” fashion, I am going to ask you, “If not now, when?”

You found the site and you landed here on this page.

Something drew you here and likely, a yearning within you senses "Now is the time".

There is nothing to lose and everything to gain… most importantly, YOU!

What is the process?

Initially, we will meet over the phone for a 15-minute, free consultation where I will ask a few questions about what you are looking for, share with you more about my approaches, and see if we would be a good match.

If you choose to continue, we will schedule an intake appointment and I will send paperwork for you to complete prior to our first meeting.

The first session will include answering questions you have, talking more about what you hope to gain from counseling, and me getting to know you as a complete person.

Don’t worry, if needed, I will ask questions to help guide you through the process. Over the next couple sessions, we will work on developing a treatment plan together including the goals you identify.

It is just as simple as it sounds!

My Approach

I take a collaborative and learning approach to therapy.

I believe you know yourself and I want to hear about the things most meaningful to you, what experiences you have had shaping the person you have become and begin understanding you as a whole person.

As we work together, I will provide you with tools needed to navigate the counseling journey in a meaningful way.

What is it like to work with me?

"Comfortable, safe, challenged, fun, and encouraged" are a few words my clients have used to describe their experiences in the therapy room. I strive to create a welcoming and warm environment where you can relax and be yourself.

Healing that Lasts.

In our work together we will use trauma-informed approaches like:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Choose YOU!

You have made it this far, why not take the chance? I understand the fears and doubts that come along with making this choice and yet, here you are…

If any of this rings true for you, take the next step and we can discover if I am a good fit for you. And if not, I will help connect you with someone who would be so you can start living a more meaningful life!
