Trauma Therapy in Colorado Springs, CO

Move Forward and Find Peace

Is trauma taking over?

Running on autopilot? Feeling numb? Disconnected from life?

Distracted by constant thoughts running a marathon in your mind?

You cannot quite figure out how to quiet the noise?

Suddenly dysregulated and consumed by old memories that are distressing and disrupting your sleep?

It feels like you are relieving it all over again, and it’s hard not to think about what happened when almost everything reminds you of that day.

You are not alone.

And you are not to blame for what happened.

It is not uncommon for distressing experiences or traumatic memories to get “stuck” in the mind and body, unprocessed because they were too overwhelming at the time.

You have tried to manage this every way you know how; even how others have shared the ways that worked for them. What is at stake is a life where you can experience healing, hope, and purpose again, or for the first time.

There is a life where you can be engaged and present in conversations, know your true self, and know your desires for your future.

With the right support, you can feel free from past memories dictating who you want to be today and what you want to accomplish now.

What is trauma?

Most people actually will experience trauma in their lifetime. Trauma can include any distressing or life-threatening event, perceived or real, experienced by an individual or group of people.

Trauma can include one-time incidents like a car accident, death of a family member, sexual trauma, loss of a pregnancy, or a traumatic birth.

Trauma can also include prolonged exposure to events experienced in childhood, domestic abuse, human trafficking, infertility, work-related stress, or natural disasters.

Secondary trauma occurs for individuals frequently exposed to high-stress and dangerous environments, like nurses or professionals in the medical and emergency response field who have limited time and resources for processing these events.

Whether a one-time-incident or prolonged, trauma can cause people to experience intrusive thoughts, memories, flashbacks, sudden shifts in mood, disruption to sleep, increased irritability, panic and anxiety, and dysregulation in interpersonal relationships.

Trauma-informed therapy is key...

The effects of trauma may feel permanent, but brain research shows that our body and mind have an innate desire and internal system built to heal and survive called neuroplasticity.

Our body’s innate ability to survive, paired with the right therapy approach and a safe environment to explore our story, brings hope to all trauma survivors - healing is available.

You will process events in the way your mind and body have stored them - nonverbally. Just like you have a brain memory of the events, your body has a memory of the events as well and needs permission to release what has been stuck.

By pairing both your mind and body in the trauma processing approach, you will experience full relief from not just the memory of the event, but also the body-based symptoms you have been experiencing.

Waking up without worry.

After therapy is successful you will notice that you are sleeping through the night and fully energized in the morning.  No more nightmares.

There will be physical relief in your body, like a weight has been lifted.

Your thoughts will move from “I am not loveable, good enough, safe” to “I am loveable, valuable, and in control”.

You will notice that you are ready to explore new interests, job opportunities, and have an increased confidence in making your own decisions.

You will set boundaries in relationships and have words to express your story as you see fit.

You will feel "in the driver’s seat" and able to be in control in places and situations that used to cause panic. You will feel assertive in your relationships and fully present in interactions with others.

From trauma to abundance.

Our trauma therapists help people move from the traumatic experience dictating your life, to full relief and abundance in life.

We create a therapy approach that fits your individual needs and targets what is important to you in the therapy room.

You will feel safe to share the history of your experiences and explore your desired outcomes.

We will incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and faith-based inner healing modalities when requested by you.

We would be honored to come alongside you to find healing, hope, and meaning from trauma.

Taking the first step for therapy takes courage and a desire to change.
